The Cockpit Club is SailLink's formal restaurant partnership programme. We have not signed a Cockpit Club restaurant in Dover yet and we would rather wait for the right fit than rush it. The conversation is open.
What we have is more honest. Cullins Yard is a Friend of SailLink, the only one on this page. They donated meals to our 2025 Christmas Special, the community fundraiser that backed Season 2. The White Horse
Dover's oldest pub. The Channel swimmers' wall.
At the foot of Dover Castle. The walls are covered with signatures of Channel swimmers who finished their crossing here,; the pub has been the traditional end point for cross-Channel swimmers since the 19th century. Sunday roast, real ales, and the kind of authenticity that money cannot manufacture. Walk up to the castle after lunch.
You won't find better history per square metre. Not a partner, not a Friend, just one of the most characterful pubs on the south coast, and the right place to mark a crossing of your own.

Tea Café
The Full English that sets you up for the Channel.
No fuss, no theatre. The Full English that sets you up properly before a crossing or after arriving in Britain for the first time. Simple, warm, efficient. The kind of café that Dover does better than anywhere else. Ideal for early mornings when SailLink departs and you need something solid before the Channel.
The early morning before a crossing has its own logic. You don't want a tasting menu. You want eggs, bacon, beans, toast, strong tea, and to be on the pontoon by nine. Tea Café delivers that, every time.

SailLink departs from Dover Marina, the same marina Cullins Yard and The Salty Dog sit on. A meal or a coffee before boarding takes five minutes to walk. If you're arriving from France and hungry after 4h30 under sail, Cullins Yard is your first stop in Britain. If you just want a good coffee on the harbour, The Salty Dog gives SailLink passengers 10% off. Either way, you won't regret stopping.

Before or after the crossing
Cullins Yard opens from 11am daily, so it works for a long lunch before an afternoon crossing or a late arrival from France. The Salty Dog and Tea Café open early enough for a coffee or a Full English before a morning departure. The White Horse is a lunch-and-evening pub, best paired with a castle walk.
Booking & tipping
Service is not automatically included in the UK. 10% is standard, 12.5% generous. Cullins Yard fills up on Friday evenings (live jazz) and Sundays (roast with music), book ahead. The Salty Dog, The White Horse and Tea Café are usually walk-in friendly.
Sunday roast & live music
Both Cullins Yard and The White Horse do a proper Sunday roast. Cullins adds live music. If your crossing falls on a Sunday, time it around lunch, you'll get the best of both.
