Samphire Hoe

One of Britain's most unusual nature reserves. Created entirely from the chalk excavated during Channel Tunnel construction, Samphire Hoe sits at the base of the White Cliffs, inaccessible by road, accessible only through a tunnel cut through the rock. Absolute silence, wild flowers, peregrine falcons, and the Channel lapping below. Free to enter. A hidden gem 10 minutes from the marina.

The White Cliffs.
England's first sight.

The White Cliffs of Dover are not just a landmark. They are the first thing generations of travellers have seen when approaching England by sea, and the last thing they saw when leaving. From a SailLink crossing, you watch them grow on the horizon as you arrive. Standing on them, you look back toward France, 30 km away, where you came from. The South Foreland Lighthouse at the top of the walk is managed by the National Trust and open for visits. The cliff path begins directly from Dover Marina.
